A Year of Lil Wayne: Like Father Like Son

Where else do Sesame Street, Notorious B.I.G., and the devil coexist?

Day 237: "Like Father Like Son" – Birdman and Lil Wayne, Like Father Like Son, 2006

Yesterday I alluded to this song, the title track of Like Father Like Son, which lives up to the standard of being a title track on one of Wayne's stealth best albums (don't let the fact that it doesn't come up as a Wayne solo album when you punch his name into Spotify or whatever deter you from thinking that this is, in fact, a Lil Wayne album with lots of Birdman as a garnish). Since it was in the conversation, let's spend today focusing on it. After all, where else are you going to find Lil Wayne making allusions to the devil, laying out roundabout references to the color of Big Bird on Sesame Street, and rapping Notorious B.I.G. lyrics? Nowhere, that's where. This shit is timeless. To quote Wayne, "we gon' keep it movin' even if the world stops."
