LGBTQ Twitter Unites to Roast Homophobia with #HeterosexualPrideDay

June is Pride month for the LGBTQ community, but the celebration couldn't go on without straight-splaining whiners crashing the party with "heterosexual pride day." The made-up holiday gained steam on Twitter as uninformed people posted about all the ways that they're oppressed, such as having a guaranteed right to marriage and never feeling the need to hide their sexuality or gender identity for fear of violence or persecution—so unfair right?

Thankfully, Twitter did what it does best and LGBTQ+ users and their supporters hijacked the hashtag and started reading the homophobic haters for filth. The hashtag #HeterosexualPrideDay has racked up more than 40, 000 tweets since this morning and the number keeps climbing. The same hashtag was used last year, following the shooting at Pulse Nightclub, and it got the same response.

The backlash against the idea that straight people are discriminated against because of their sexuality highlights the real issue that gender and sexual minorities have to deal with. Here's a round-up of some of the best shade throwing memes.
