When prosecutors urged a judge Thursday to rescind Martin Shkreli’s $5 million bail after he offered $5000 on Facebook for a single strand of Hillary Clinton’s hair, the “pharma bro” came back with a proposal of his own.After posting an expletive-laden Facebook diatribe about the prosecutors, he asked a judge a day later to overturn part of his criminal conviction.“Fuck the government. I will never kiss their ring or snitch,” he wrote on Facebook in response. “Come at me with you [sic] hardest because I haven’t seen anything impressive yet.”On Friday, Shkreli’s lawyers filed a motion in federal court arguing that one of Shkreli convictions — that he conspired to manipulate a stock price— was unjust because of a prosecutor’s mistake in closing arguments, according to Reuters.The day before prosecutors, filed their own motion saying Shkreli hadn’t been able to prove that he wasn’t a “danger to the community.” and should be locked up until his sentencing.“Since his conviction on August 4, 2017, Shkreli has engaged in an escalating pattern of threats and harassment that warrant his detention pending sentencing,” they wrote.Shkreli’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, wrote in an email to NBC News that, “However inappropriate some of Mr. Shkreli’s postings may have been, we do not believe that he intended harm and do not believe that he poses a danger to the community.”But Shkreli’s Facebook post, according to Reuters, seemed dangerous enough to prompt a Secret Service investigation to make sure no one actually tried to grab Clinton’s hair.Shkreli, the former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals, faces several counts of securities fraud and could face up to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
