Gosh, that was unexpected, but there's really nothing to be done about it except put it on a pillow immediately, right?When Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth is released for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on September 5, pre-orders and limited editions will come with a few collector's items: a slip case box and a double-sided pillow case featuring "the mysterious Yamato priestesses Uruuru and Saraana," according to the game's developer, Atlus.Yep, you'll be able to wrap your clammy arms around two anime priestesses at once as you play to save the world from evil. It's not a full-size body pillow, and therefore not a true dakimakura, but it'll damn well do.This isn't the first time a game's come with a pillow case: In 2004, the Japanese release of release of Dead or Alive Online included a special edition Xbox set packaged with a dakimakura of one of the game's volleyball players. It was an effort to "exploit hard-core fanboys" and boost flagging sales of the console, Wired reported. Utawarerumono seems to seek a similar niche with its final installment of the series that began in 2002.Some may say it's sexist to put scantily-clad women on pillow cases, literally objectifying them, but to that I say: Give me one Barret Wallace pillow case and we can call it even.
