The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Arizona Diamondbacks last night to advance to the National League Championship Series and, in case you were wondering, the sanctity of the Chase Field swimming people remains intact. Four years ago, the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks at Chase to clinch the NL West and the players decided to jump into the pool to celebrate. The D-Backs were not thrilled with that development and so last night, they called in the mounties to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

And it wasn't just for the immediate moments following the final pitch, these guys closed the place down:
Obviously, the pool must be protected from those who would seek to muddy its waters, but it kind of sounds like this show of police force was highly unnecessary. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was specifically asked whether the team planned for a second pool party and he shot it down pretty quickly.
"That won't happen," Roberts said. "This is a completely different team. I think we have bigger goals than to jump into a swimming pool. Our guys clearly understand what this is about. We have no interest in jumping into a pool in right field."
Still, better safe than sorry when the stakes are as high as they were last night. And to think, it was just a few short weeks ago when the Diamondbacks themselves went for a celebratory dip of their own.
