Gabrielle Union Reflects on Her High School Acting Roles

The iconic actress visited 'Desus & Mero' to talk about 'Bring It On' and '10 Things I Hate About You.'

Back in the late 90s, Gabrielle Union was the ultimate high schooler. She was a cheerleading protégé in Bring It On and an OG mean girl in 10 Things I Hate About You. But according to Union, she actually frustrated the hell out of the Bring It On crew thanks to her inexperience. The cheerocracy never voted her out, though, because in the end viewers couldn't tell the difference.

On Thursday's episode of Desus and Mero, Union also told the hosts what it was like to play a teenager in 10 Things I Hate About You as an adult. She said that most of the cast was older, except for Heath Ledger who was just 19, but everyone was still able to get lit between takes despite the age gaps.

"We had a great time," she said. "We got those kids fake IDs, and the rest is history."

Union also talked about her new book We're Going to Need More Wine: Stories That Are Funny, Complicated, and True, the creepiest part about being famous, and that infamous ass-eating Sway interview.

You can watch Thursday night's Desus & Mero for free online now, and be sure to catch new episodes weeknights at 11 PM on VICELAND.
