A male acrobat fell to his death during the Mad Cool festival in Madrid Friday night. The man, Pedro Aunión Monroy, was a dancer specializing in aerial stunts, reports the BBC.

Monroy was reportedly suspended in a cage during the festival and fell 100ft to his death. Although paramedics spent 20 minutes trying to revive him, they were unable to save his life. It is unclear what happened to cause Monroy's fall.

In a statement posted to their website, festival organizers Javier Arnaiz and Farruca Castroman wrote, "Mad Cool Festival regrets the terrible accident that the aerial dancer suffered during the second day of the festival."

A performance by rock band Green Day scheduled for after the performance was not cancelled "for security reason," organizers of the festival say. Additional scheduled performers for the festival include Moderat, Royksopp, and Boys Noize.

A tribute to Monroy will take place today during the festival, according to a statement from the organizers on the event's website.
