Jeremy Lin Confirms He Won’t Eat Soup, Not Even If Mom Makes It

The Brooklyn Nets star confirmed he doesn't like soup, or any “hot liquid,” at the New Yorker Festival on Sunday.

Jeremy Lin of the Brooklyn Nets recently told GQ Magazine that he doesn't like soup. Obviously, no one believed such silliness, because everyone likes soup, or tolerates soup, or doesn't come out and say that s/he doesn't like soup, so Lin was asked about it again at the New Yorker Festival on Sunday.

Nope, he still doesn't like soup, or any such "hot liquid." It mortifies Lin's mom that he won't eat soup—"There's been hundreds of times where she's made soup" and he "didn't drink it"—but Lin won't be shamed into changing his outlier behavior just because his mom does something "hundreds of times" for him. That means that Lin, who is Chinese American, won't eat pho (a soupy Vietnamese dish), and says he drains ramen of all the liquid before consuming what remains.

No soup? That's nuts! It's not like journalists keep taking him out of context—check the tape for yourself:

You notice how Ms. Heung titled the tweet? "Talking about soup." He's sitting in there, one of the Nets' franchise players, talking about soup. I mean, we're talking about soup! Not a steak, not a pizza. We're talking about soup.

He's not the only one in history who won't eat soup, though, as this clip from Ed Wood shows. Some people won't eat any liquid of any kind:

See folks? It could be weirder.
