On an unrelated note, Brazil took home their first medal (silver) in men's 10mm air pistol. Hurray.

The Rio Olympics has been the Olympics of "whoops" so far. There's "whoops, your bathroom isn't finished yet," or "whoops, your basement is on fire," or "whoops, we're not cleaning up all the shit in our waterways." But for some reason, "whoops, I just fired a bullet into the equestrian tent. Love, the police" just doesn't cut it.

Today, during the dressage event, an assault rifle bullet ripped through the white canvass of a tent filled with journalists during their lunch hour, according to Horse & Hound reporter Alice Collins. The tent was later evacuated after what Collins describes as the bullet "landing" on the carpet. No one, thankfully, was injured during the incident.

The bullet was identified as 5.56mm assault rifle round. The equestrian tent is located near a military base.

While the precise source of the bullet is unknown, the police are saying it all was an accident. On an unrelated note, Brazil took home their first medal (silver) in men's 10mm air pistol. Hurray.
