New York Daily News crime reporter Rocco Parascandola is reporting that police believe Matt Barnes is on the verge of turning himself in for allegedly assaulting a woman at a nightclub. The news comes nearly two months after Barnes was accused of fighting in a Chelsea club after his Sacramento Kings lost to the Knicks on December 5.

Despite the fact that the police report implicates several others—including Kings teammate DeMarcus Cousins, who allegedly punched club patron Myrone Powel, 35, in the head—police told the Daily News that only Barnes is being charged with misdemeanor assault after allegedly choking patron Jasmine Besiso, 26, during an altercation.

Besiso and Powell's lawyer, Michael Lamonsoff, told the Daily News that he's grown impatient, and that investigation has "taken way too long."

Barnes is expected in New York as soon as next week to face charges.
