Floating Pipe Sculptures Look Like Alien Life Forms

David McLeod's digital creations put surreal twists on a mundane object.

If the old PVC pipe gathering dust in the garage, or a pile of spare engine parts were to come alive, they might look something like David McLeod's latest batch of digital sculptures. The designer arranges intricately rendered tubes into abstract forms, ranging from an off-white bundle reminiscient of someone in the fetal position, to an animated flock of polished chrome pipes, swirling like a breeze. McLeod says he's considered 3D printing the sculptures, but they "would need a bit of remodeling to work," according to a comment on Ello.
