Andre Crom Debuts the New Sound of OFF Recordings

"With deep house becoming the new EDM, I got tired of it. I wanted to find something that could touch me on a deeper emotional level."

Berliner label OFF Recordings became a deep house darling quickly after it was launched by Andre Crom in 2008. A game-changing 2012 saw everyone from Adriatique and Thyladomid, Leftwing & Kody, and Sharam Jey release on the imprint. The groundswell continued into 2014 as Crom's collaborations with Chi Thanh were ubiquitous and deep dancefloor heaters.

Then something changed. Crom explains: "With deep house becoming the new EDM, I got tired of it. I wanted to find something that could touch me on a deeper emotional level."

After taking some moments off to recenter, Crom and OFF Recordings are back with a totally new perspective, as exemplified in Andre's exclusive THUMP guest mix. "The mix reflects my quite drastically changed taste, compared to what people might connect to my name," he says. "I love it when a track does something weird, unexpected or radical, but still remains danceable and catchy, which was the idea behind this THUMP mix, and my sets in general these days."

The mix maintains the quintessential OFF slickness, but replaces the oft-hammered deep house vibes for a slightly more tech-y feel. More than anything, it's an emotive and engaging journey that's bookended by Pachanga Boys and Mano Le Tough. What more do you need to know?
