Deejay Astral's Guest Mix is a Suitably Cosmic Affair

The man formerly known as Palace is taking us into the stratosphere with this next level new mix.

Romford boy Deejay Astral's better known to most of us as the bloke who released stonkers like "Trust" and "Touch Me" on DJ Haus' Unknown to the Unknown imprint under the Palace moniker. He's recently decided to switch up names and is now recording and playing out as Deejay Astral. Maybe he hates the monarchy. Maybe he hates the streetwear brand. Who knows?

What we do know, though, is that he's decided to team up with Waze & Odyssey for a release on their club-focused Street Tracks imprint. Dropping today, the three tracker's a rough and ready, big and bassy wild ride of a house record. To celebrate it's release we asked Deejay Astral to take us to the cloud's above with a suitably cosmic mix.

THUMP:How's 2015 been? Any personal highlights? Any musical ones?
Deejay Astral: Lots of ups and downs really. Been a bit of a strange one but i think I'm finally settled now I've moved to Brixton. Visiting Berlin was a great experience and really opened my eyes to club culture and how it should be done. My set at Secret Garden Party, on the Pagoda Stage in the pouring rain/mud was also a memorable highlight. I was expecting it to be completely empty but there was a big crowd and a really nice vibe.

Can you tell us a little about the mix?
The mix contains a selection of different house, techno and ambient atmospheric traxx from friends, producers and DJs that i've been supporting recently. I'm definitely heading in a deeper direction musically and this mix showcases the sound I'm hoping to incorporate more in my productions. Theres a couple of new tracks from my new alias "Deejay Astral" thrown in too and one from my forthcoming W&O Street Tracks release.

How'd you hook up with Waze and Odyssey?
We linked up online and a couple of times over beers. They've been a big supporter of me this year and got me to remix a tune by Quell for the label. Also got me out too play Secret Garden Party in the summer.

What's your phantasy?
I've always liked the idea of having my own tropical island. No rules, free from the prison of society haha. Just sun, sea, sand and dope music.

Describe your perfect Christmas day in detail. I want to know everything.
I've never really been one of those people thats really into the Christmas celebrations. For me the highlight is definitely the food though. Lots of food. Turkey lasts for days and them little sausages with bacon. Yeah man.
