You don't want this guy coming down your chimney. Too bad.

We've been over 2016 since the Starman blasted off in January, but the year has been unfailingly terrible ever since. We don't deserve a jolly old Saint Nick, confidently doling out gifts to the kids. We don't deserve the scent of pine needles and candle wax lighting up our appartments. We don't deserve Hannukah gelt and lighthearted games of dreidel. We don't deserve the fresh fruits of Kwanzaa. This mesmerizing work of weird internet CGI art by Joe Pascale is the perfect mascot for the 2016 holiday season: unsettling, distorted, and trying to pretend like everything is normal and ok.

Pascale has a knack for plowing through the uncanny valley with a bulldozer. His digital renderings of the human body with stretched faces, no bones, or too many eyes shine a light on what's possible with 3D-scanned bodies as a medium. He uses detailed skin textures and a variety of body types, from ultra-muscular to pot-bellied, allowing for equal-opportunity creepiness. That's about as good as we're getting for the holiday season this year.
