Marking the end of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7), Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posted a photo on Twitter of his partner Sophie Gregoire Trudeau breastfeeding last week. The photo shows Gregoire Trudeau breastfeeding the couple's youngest son Hadrien and has Gregoire Trudeau encouraging breastfeeding moms around the world. "Let's support mothers to breastfeed anytime, anywhere," she wrote.The photo was overshadowed on the weekend by her husband's own topless snap but is gaining attention this week, as other notable Canadians mark WBW. Women are circulating breastfeeding selfies or "brelfies" (sorry not my word) in a bid to normalize breastfeeding in public. It's honestly very sad that in 2016 women have to rally en masse to make something as biologically innate as feeding your child seem "natural" to other people, but here we are. If you're asking yourself how anyone could possibly be offended by seeing someone feed a child, rest assured there are a lot of trolls out there with nothing better to do. And even though that viral Daily Mail story about a mom squirting breast milk at a park hater tragically turned out to be fake, I hope next World Breastfeeding Week we try and normalize that as a response to people who still have trouble with this concept.
