Stephen Bailey Produces Low Key Krautrock From the Far Edges of Australia

Watch a sleepy and wistful video for "Demure" shot on Super 8.

The last time I was in Perth, I swam in the Indian Ocean. To be honest it looked, smelled and tasted very much like the Pacific Ocean. Blue, wet and salty. But there must be some type of chemical in the waters off Perth that helps people create fuzzed and blissed out pop.

Stephen Bailey is one who's taken a few gulps of Perth's briney pop potion. Best known as the vocalist for droney and doomy Perth band Mt Mountain, Bailey steps out solo to create Silo, a cassette of stripped back work that weaves within indie, pop and psych.

Bailey has once again worked with Perth photographer Sam Eastcott, to shoot a video for "Demure, a track taken from the tapes. Shot on Super 8, the video's hazy and lazy approach is the perfect match for a song called "Demure" as it brings to mind Krautrock and the buzzed melody of Galaxie 500.

Silo is available now on Dusky Tracks, a label run by Lucas Skinner of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
