This Banh Mi Hot Dog Is an Ode to Two of the Best Street Foods

It was kind of a no-brainer.

Sure, the banh mi and the hot dog are doing just fine with their respective statuses as iconic street meat vessels.

But what's the point of having our own test kitchen if we can't Frankenstein hot dogs and bahn mi together into one meat-in-bread juggernaut? After extensive research, we came up with an awesome hybrid that takes the light garnish and rich pâté of the classic Vietnamese sandwich but is most definitely a hot dog.

RECIPE: Banh Mi Hot Dog

The key is making your own pickles and daikon and getting a fresh baguette that won't cut the roof of your mouth; chewy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside. Some matches were made in heaven—this one might be a little strange, but it's beautiful and, uh, really tasty.
