NRA employee accidentally shoots himself at NRA headquarters

The National Rifle Association argues the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. But sometimes good guys stop themselves, as an NRA employee did Friday when he accidentally shot himself at NRA headquarters.

The employee, who has not been named, is reportedly a 46-year-old man who accidentally discharged a pistol while holstering it during firearms training at the NRA’s National Firearms Museum in Virginia. According to its website, the museum has a collection of 3,000 guns, including the .44 Magnum Clint Eastwood used in “Dirty Harry.”

Unlike the punk in that film, the NRA employee should feel relatively lucky. He suffered only a “minor wound” and is expected to make a full recovery.
