Stormzy Is Quite Honestly Nominated for a BAFTA

His surprise appearance on 'Love Island' is up for the "Virgin TV's Must-See Moment" award at this year's TV BAFTAs.

Despite "sweeping the nation", Love Island 2017 feels like it happened about seven years ago. Remember Chris 'n' Kem? Marcel out of Blazin' Squad, whose appearance on the show put such an enormous fire under us that we wrote an entire Noisey roundtable about one of his songs? Where once the contestants gave us zeitgeist-defining Watercooler Moments (is that a thing anymore? Should it be Gchat Moments now?), they're currently doing things like going on Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Dinner Date. Alas, the circle of reality TV.

One moment on the show, however, has stood the test of time, according to the people at BAFTA: Stormzy's surprise appearance with would-be rappers Chris and Kem, which is up for "Virgin TV's Must-See Moment" at this year's awards. Let's relive it right now, shall we?

Wonderful stuff. Clearly Stormzy elevates this particular scene from a "very good moment" to a "must-see moment", so he may well claim his first TV award for it (next year, we hope he's claiming it for his phenomenal BRIT Awards appearance).

Elsewhere in music, Ariana Grande is also more than deservingly nominated for the award, for her emotional performance of "One Last Time", in tribute to those killed and injured at the Manchester Arena bombing last May, during the televised One Love Manchester concert.

The rest of the nominees range from TV dramas (hold tight Line of Duty fans, our time may have finally come), and literal Blue Planet. See the full list so far here, with more to be released on Wednesday.
