Diane von Furstenberg’s S/S 2013 collection, shown Sunday at New York Fashion Week, saw models, the stylists, and the designer herself outfitted in Google’s new technology—Project Glass. But while wearing the headgear (color-coordinated to match the model’s dresses nonetheless) was quite the statement in itself, the goal of the stunt was to cut a short behind-the-scenes video showing a very personal account of the show—from von Furstenberg musing on what fashion means while taping her good luck charm into her shoe, to literally stepping inside the models’ heels as they hit the runway.From a film perspective, it’s exciting to see how Project Glass enables the collaborative or crowdsourced filmmaking process, along with doing wonders for developing the first-person narrative—much like gaming has already done.Do you think Project Glass will become a viable filmmaking tool?
