Interpretive Dance and Romantic Angst in Skaters Video for "In Your Head"

The NYC trio return with their second album this March.

Skaters. Where have you been? After releasing their debut LP, Manhattan, back in 2014, they toured their asses off, had a bitch of a time at their major label, broke free, went underground, and wrote a double album's worth of songs. Last time we premiered anything by them was over a year ago and the video featured the one and only Alia Shawkat and excessive amounts of of PDA.

Now they're back with an imminent new LP—ROCK and ROLL Bye Bye—along with a new Britpop-angled song, "In Your Head," and its accompanying video, premiering below. Although the band are very strongly associated with New York, guitarist Josh Hubbard is actually from Hull in England, a city which acts as the backdrop here. Meanwhile the video's star spends half the time looking like she's gonna bottle you before flipping into dance to work out her angst.

As for the song, well, ever felt like someone's slipped through your fingers because you were too busy putting the important shit off? Well when Michael Cummings sings: "I always say tomorrow because everything's too hard to fix right now / But you couldn't wait that long / I missed you"—it breaks our heart a little.

But back to the video: "The ethos brought to this new project is similar to that of the 'DIY' ethos… but its more inclusive, so we've coined it DIWOP2, which his short for Do It With Other People Also," explains Hubbard. "We reached out on the internet to people and people got back. Conversations where had, relationships forged and collaborations were born….

"This here video is the out come from one of those online conversations. Hull transplant and very talented DP Josh Moore (shootjmoore) teamed up with us and took a walk down 'Whitefriargate' the UK City of Hull. Culture's newly paved high street, real life, in a real city with real people… you can win them all."
