By now, it's fair to assume we're all acquainted with the fermented tea known as kombucha. Yeah, its flavor is best described as vinegary. Sure, it has funny bits of magic slime that kind of float around in it like a drinkable lava lamp. But it makes you feel like a million bucks, not only because its chock full of probiotics but also because it contains a nice little dose of booze. After all, let's not forget when Lindsay Lohan blamed it for upping her blood alcohol content while she was on probation.

You see it most often on the shelves of your local Whole Foods or the "fancy" corner store that's just a little farther from your house, but you should be making it at home. Seriously.

First of all, it's easy. Seriously. You basically throw some sugar and tea in a jar and let it chill for a while, and it becomes kombucha. Secondly, it's cheap. Once you've got your hands on a SCOBY—that's the Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast, that crazy alien-looking-ass thing that turns old tea into delicious 'buch—you can use it to make your home brew for literally years with minimal effort. Think of it as a pet that makes you pickles. And third, there are all kinds of reasons why people swear by this stuff. Testimonials from kombucha devotees say it makes your hair pretty, it makes you skinnier, it helps you digest all of the other garbage you're stuffing into your body on the daily. It's magic!
