Nick Clegg has issued an angry rebuke to the "nasty" political atmosphere of Brexit Britain. In an interview for VICE, he called out Prime Minister Theresa May for her lack of compassion for foreign people living in the UK, and high profile Tories Michael Gove and Daniel Hannan for "put[ting] on their bovver boots to kick the shit out of" the governor of the Bank of England."It's really important we don't take this lying down," he warns, saying:

In her speech at the Conservative Party conference in October, May said, "If you're a citizen of the world, you're a citizen of nowhere." It was a controversial sound-bite in a conference that saw accusations of an increase in racist rhetoric.Clegg continued:"We live in a country now where really angry people like Paul Dacre [editor] of the Daily Mail are holding sway – where Theresa May, the Prime Minister of our country – thinks it's OK to get up at her party conference and dismiss millions of people who think that to be human is also to feel an affinity and compassion for and sympathy with people who live in other countries, dismissing them as 'citizens of nowhere'."
Bank of England Governor Mark Carney has been criticised by Brexiteers for his gloomy forecasts after Brexit.
