Bonobo's New Album, ‘Migration,’ is a Study of People and Spaces

British producer Simon Green, a.k.a. Bonobo, announced a new album today, Migration, set to arrive on January 13, 2017 via his longtime home of Ninja Tune.

The LP will be Green's sixth full-length following 2013's The North Borders. In a press release he said: "My own personal idea of identity has played into this record and the theme of migration. Is home where you are or where you are from, when you move around?" He also describes the album as "the study of people and spaces". He added: "It's interesting how one person will take an influence from one part of the world and move with that influence and affect another part of the world. Over time, the identities of places evolve."

Migration features guest appearances and sounds from all parts of the world. The former includes LA band Rhye's Michael Milosh, from Canada; Australia's Nick Murphy (formerly known as Chet Faker); Hundred Waters member and Floridian Nicole Miglis; and Morocco-hailing, New York-based band Innov Gnawa. The latter group, captured via sampler, includes Seattle rain, a New Orleans fan boat engine, a tumble dryer in Atlanta, and a Hong Kong airport elevator.

Alongside the announcement, Greene has shared the music video for "Kerala," the twinkling, textured, Brandy-sampling lead track. Watch it below.
