Dee Gordon Honors Jose Fernandez in First AB, Hits Home Run, Breaks Down After Crossing Homeplate

This is simply an unbelievable moment.

This is, as the tweet says, just an amazing moment. Dee Gordon—one of Jose Fernandez's close friends since arriving in Miami—wore Fernandez's batting helmet (and jersey number, as every Marlins player is tonight) and took a pitch from the right side of the plate as a tribute. He then switched to the left side of the plate, and two pitches later, hit his first home run of the season.

He ran around the bases and then broke down into tears once he touched home plate, hugging must of his teammates as he slowly made his way to the bench.
