Scorched? This Site Lets You Buy Passes to Hotel Pools in Your City

New York has its charms, but effective air conditioning is certainly not one of them. Sure, you could crank open a fire hydrant or take the ferry to Rockaway, but wouldn’t it be nice to swan dive into a crystal-clear swimming pool while you hammer a few margs on a chaise lounge? [Drools.] 

Unfortunately, unless your name is on the side of some building in Midtown, you probably don’t have a pool in your backyard if you live in the city. (No, the puddle in the overgrown lot behind your building where the cats fight at night doesn’t count.) But, why would anyone want a pool? We want pools, dude. Plu-ral. Luckily, little ol’ you can have multiple pools, today. For cheap. That's where a site called ResortPass comes in.  

Why didn't anyone think of this sooner? We don't know. But ResortPass knows that a lot of hotels sit around with extra space at their pools while a lot of sweaty locals lament their lack of an accessible swimming hole. Depending on the temperature on a given summer day, sometimes we'd gladly fork over a few 20s for the chance to spend hours lounging in the shallow end, spritz in one hand, sausage in the other. 

So, how does it work? If you become a ResortPass member, you get access to pools, spas, and other sweet amenities at tons of luxurious hotels in cities and towns all over the country. It’s kind of like the friend with a pool that you had as a kid—if your friend had the same pool as a multi-million dollar hotel baron or luxury resort tycoon, and it was located in the center of downtown Manhattan.
