Dirty Pixels May Have Just Created ‘Passive Aggressive’ Pop

Listen to the Auckland songwriter's EP of sweet smelling pop that comes with a side of angst.

Dirty Pixels is the work of Ethan Moore, a young New Zealand songwriter who for a while played in Auckland band Charlie Freak before deciding to concentrate on his own sparkling pop. Inspired by a combination of 80s and 90s UK pop such as Orange Juice and Pulp, the four tracks on his debut EP Spacesuit also bubble with hints of modern jangle such as Mac DeMarco or Connan Mockasin.

Ethan tells us that the lyrics of the title track are basically, "a stern telling off to someone you don't like but at the same time are intended to be comical in a dark way." This is passive aggressive pop with emphasis on loud synths and big vocals.
