A Florida man was arrested for impersonating country singer Jason Aldean and defrauding a mentally handicapped woman in Pinellas County. According to WFLA, Daniel Michael Farris, 27, requested $2,000 from the woman and she paid him $230 on two separate occasions. Reports state that Farris used the victim's money to buy drugs. Farris reportedly had sex with the woman, but it is unclear if she believed he was Aldean or Aldean's purported "friend" at the time.Farris awaits court action for the felony chagres. Records at Pinellas County Jail show Farris has been arrested several times in the past years on charges ranging from burglary, to dealing in stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.According to a police, Farris created a fake Facebook profile so he could pose as Aldean and another profile so he could pose as a "friend" of Aldean's. It is alleged that Farris told the woman he loved her but was on tour and his friend needed to borrow money.Although Largo Police Lt. Paul Amodeo said this is the first such celebrity impersonation case he can recall in his jurisdiction, he said such cases are not unheard of. He cautioned, "people to think carefully before they believe someone is a celebrity.""In all honesty, a celebrity is not going to ask you for money," he said. "And they aren't going to contact you on [social media]. They have people who protect them, who work for them. That just doesn't happen."Jason Aldean's publicist declined comment on the case.
