From Rags to Bitches

My dog Herb was found wandering the streets. Now he drinks puppy chinos and has a $65 lead. I’m reluctant to let anything from the mere supermarket touch his baby fur seal soft body. This has caused me to wonder: What can I get for Herb?

Herb is my new rescue whippet. He was found wandering the streets of a country town basically starving because some jerk didn't want him. Now he’s my baby, he lives in the city and goes out for puppy chinos on the regular. The first week I had him I entered him in a dog fashion show and he won first prize, which meant he got a whole bag of designer goodies. Now he’s experienced luxury items like the $65 florescent lead we use to take him for walks, I’m reluctant to let anything from the mere supermarket touch his baby fur seal soft body. This has caused me to wonder: What else can I get for Herb? So I sent out a bunch of emails and amazingly, some super nice pet companies sent some stuff back. Here it all is, as reviewed by the pub himself.

FuzzYard “Atomik Reversible Pet Bed”

Since I got Herb he has preferred the hoo-manbed. He likes to sleep in-between my boyfriend and I and thinks us having intimate times is a game that he should join in on by running over and licking my face. The first night he had this bed was the first night he slept on his own. He loves it so much he even tries to eat it.

FuzzYard “Scratchy the Flea” and Plush Puppies “Bungee Weiner Dog”

Bungee Weiner Dog is cool because he stretches, squeaks, and rattles. Herb loves Bungee dog. Another dog tried to take it off him which really showed off the bungee effect and made Herb growl. Scratchy the Flea has a good squeak but quickly lost a pupil due to Herb ripping it off. Herb also likes Scratchy the Flea  but Bungee wins.

FuzzYard Tangerine + Rosemary Shampoo

When Herb saw the shampoo he took it to his bed and tried to eat it. When he had to have a bath with it he was pretty upset. It made a pretty good lather and smelt nice but Herb just wanted to get the heck outta there.

Shampoo (my score) 8/10 Herb’s score 0/10

All Barks “Dog Donuts”

Herb eats most thing in a swift inhale type motion, but he really took his time licking and nibbling on this one. After his bath I gave him the pink one to cheer him up but he didn't want it. He carried it off to the garden and stared at it for ages. I don't know if it was post bath trauma or he thinks they suck.

Doggy Donuts 5/10

FuzzYard “Woof” Lead and Bowl.

The print on this reminds me of Roy Lichtenstein so I like it. The bowl is great as it is un-smashable. Herb smashed his first bowl and was making do with a Tupperware container so this one is pimpin’. The lead feels really nice to hold but I wish the print was double-sided.

Lead 8/10 Bowl 10/10

“Outward Hound” Portable bowl.

Herb likes to be able to eat and drink everywhere so this is a great idea. You can zip them on top of each other too and they won't leak! Herb’s head pretty much disappeared into this bowl and he licked it totally clean so I didn't even have to wash it.

9/10
