Insane Save From Senators Goalie Actually Ruled Insane Diving Goal by Rangers

One man's failed save is another man's insane shot.

The call on the ice is NO GOAL. Are we going to see that call overturned? #StanleyCup pic.twitter.com/bDTj28duYL

In the third period, amidst a chaotic second round Stanley Cup playoff game between the Rangers and the Senators, Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson deflected a shot with his leg pads, leaving scraps on his doorstep. New York left winger Jimmy Vesey pounced on it like a hungry dawg with an outstretched stick and slapped the puck toward goal.

But Anderson came in with a brilliant, instinctive glove save, and the ruling on the ice said that it was a no-goal. That wouldn't last, though, as the shot went to replay assessment, where officials realized the error of their ways (tricky sleight-of-glove movements), and ruled the shot to be a goal. One man's failed insane save is another man's successful insane shot.

The Senators later came in to level the score, and now (as of this writing) we're in overtime at 4-4. The series is tied at two.

UPDATE:

The Senators have taken a 3-2 series lead on an OT goal by Ottawa's Kyle Turris.
