This Artist Is Taking a Fresh Look at Femininity Through Drag

Genevieve Gaignard crafts imaginary personas and objects to bring viewers into her own ultra-exaggerated world.

In her new show Us Only at the Shulamit Nazarian gallery in Venice, California, Genevieve Gaignard displays photography, videos, collages, and ready-made objects that use drag culture to explore femininity and gender. Gaignard has created three new characters with similarities to her, and these roles weave in and out of the different art pieces. The show runs till January 7, 2016. Here's a preview of Gaignard's new body of work on show at the Shulamit Nazarian gallery.
