Daniel sat down with a few Colombian soldiers between drills in the midst of the Fuerzas Comando 2014 competition, held last year at the Tolemaida military base in Tolima, Colombia. He decided to eat an entire MRE, right down to the coffee and dessert, to get a taste of what military personnel eat in the field when options are extremely limited.

The compact meals are designed to get soldiers all the energy and nutrients they need for maximum battlefield efficiency.
