Andrelton Simmons Makes Diving Catch, Eats Grass

Andrelton Simmons is still a wizard.

Andrelton Simmons is still working his magic in the Atlanta infield. He made another sterling play tonight, this time behind Alex Wood in the third inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Josh Harrison smoked Wood's first pitch up the middle and Simmons just barely got his glove around it. He laid completely out for it and slammed his face right into the grass on his way down. Plays like this not only serve as reminders to appreciate the skill of pro athletes, but also that slow motion and high definition sure are fun for us, if maybe less so for the players.

Wood was appreciative of the effort and the toll it took on his shortstop, too.
