What does your dad do? Oh, that's great, yeah, nice one. He sounds great. But, and this is quite a big but, unless you're Oliver Rodigan, AKA super-talented producer Cadenza, it's not quite that great. Imagine being David Rodigan's son. Imagine it. That's the man who fed you buttered toast. That's the man who took you swimming. That's the man who wore pants on his head on holiday to wind your mum up. Rodigan! David Rodigan! Incredible.
Now, not to get all Freudian at this time of day, but it is imperative that men and women step out of the shadow cast by their parents, and luckily Cadenza's done this better than most of us do. For the last few years he's been releasing the kind of music that's the perfect accompaniment to the sweatiest of sweaty parties, and even curmudgeons like this are into it.
His latest single, "People" features both Jorja Smith and Dre Island and it is a total belter. We liked it so much that we've decided to let you listen to the remix by the legendary DJ Zinc.
If you were lucky enough to be aboard our boat party with My Nu Leng at Hideout earlier in the year, you'll know that Zinc's still one of the most incredibly talented and diverse DJs around. Honestly, if you need someone to soundtrack a birthday, wedding, or car tax renewal ceremony, there's only one man you should be calling.
His remix of "People" is a typically upfront affair, a super-weighty, zig-zagging thing of complete joy. If you're not smiling for the next four minutes and four seconds then we're pretty certain that there's something up with you.
