Prepare to Get Deeper Than Deep With the New Der Zyklus Record

Gerald Donald of Drexciya is back with an electro belter for the ocean dwellers out there.

Last week marked the thirteenth anniversary of the death of Drexciya's James Stinson. Drexciya's impact has been felt by a generation of artists interested in actively trying to further our known understanding of what electronic music is, what it does, and the effect it has on us. Long term collaborator, and the other half of the Drexciyan dream team, Gerald Donald is an artist constantly striving to master the unknown.

His work under aliases like Zerkalo, Dopplereffekt, and Abstract Thought is a treasure trove of futurist-techno, saltwater soaked electro and far out, non-standard exploration and experimentation. Just don't expect him to talk about it much. Asked about his use of pseudonyms and relative anonymity, Donald said, "I will not directly indicate my involvement in any project. I will leave this question open to observer interpretation. The most important thing has always been the music and concept itself. I adhere to this philosophy. People spend way too much time engaging personalities rather than the music that's accompanying that personality". So that's us told.

Luckily his music can do the talking for him. Donald's Der Zyklus project is an exploration of depth charge electro and the oceanic pull and power of technoid propulsion. "Explosion Diagram", taken from new EP Axonometric, released on 15th September on Zone records, is a haunted sweller of a track — deep space cosmic vibes for days. Perfect for those moments when all you really wanna do is escape all earthly pressures and submit totally to the pleasures of the unknown.

The Axonometric EP is released on Zone on 15th September. You can order it here.
