Matt Mondanile, the former lead guitarist of Real Estate and the frontman of Ducktails, was fired from Real Estate due to sexual misconduct allegations, says a new report from Spin. According to the report, he was let go in February 2016 "when allegations of unacceptable treatment of women were brought to [Real Estate's] attention." The report also says that Mondanile was recently released from his Domino Records contract under Ducktails but that the label "declined to speak on the record about the circumstances of his departure." Real Estate confirmed their reason for firing Mondanile in a statement to Noisey, saying:

The Spin report claims that the allegations against Mondanile were first brought up by Real Estate drummer Jackson Pollis, who had heard of "unspecified allegedly inappropriate sexual behavior" associated with Mondanile. Though Mondanile has not yet responded to Spin, a final paragraph says that he "pleaded" with the publication to not release a more detailed report that sources "multiple women " until he could provide a statement. Pitchfork says that Mondanile sent them a statement denying "any wrongdoing." You can read the entire Spin report here.
