The Streets Dropped Two New Tracks While You Weren’t Looking

I have some news that you might be interested in: The Streets just dropped two new tracks. Their first in six years. Sometime during the night, when you were sleeping, “Burn Bridges” and “Sometimes I Hate My Friends More Than My Enemies” appeared on iTunes. Yep, The Streets are back. So roll up your blunt and light it. Merry Christmas.

Taking a step away from the more melodic sound of what we thought was The Streets’ final album Computer and Blues, “Burn Bridges” uses a slow, icy grime instrumental, with Skinner spitting a whole bunch of bitter-sounding bars over the top. The second track, “Sometimes I Hate My Friends More Than My Enemies”, sounds like classic Streets material: off-kilter UKG beats, looped vocal samples and blunt but effective lyrics. Both of them are sick. Scroll down and listen to them below.

The tracks come after Skinner announced earlier this year that 2018 would see a UK tour from The Streets. "I’ve missed tour buses very much. Which is the least of the reasons why I have decided to tour The Streets again,” Skinner said in a press release at the time, adding: "With my Tonga parties, the new rap and grime MC's I have been producing and the DJing, I have been living with music since making The Streets for nearly as long as I made The Streets. I’m not the guy smoking in the car anymore though, I have become the guy in the club, so I hope I will be excused for putting on after parties in nightclubs after every show"
