    Slovenia has asked other European Union states to send police to help the country cope with the influx of migrants. More than 10,000 Syrians refugees have arrived over the past 24 hours. —Reuters
  • Merkel: We're Responsible for Holocaust
    Angel Merkel has insisted it is "very clear" Germany was responsible for the Holocaust. It follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's claim that a Palestinian mufti told Hitler to "burn" Europe's Jews. —CNN
  • Permafrost Warming, Planet Screwed
    One of the world's leading experts on permafrost says the rate of warming in the Arctic, Antarctic and Alpine regions is "unbelievable". Vladimir Romanovsky expects permafrost in Alaska to start to thaw by 2070, releasing large amounts of methane. —BBC News
