Legendary In-Game Smoker Guy Lafleur Isn't a Fan of Fun, Calls Sharks' Beards a Disgrace

How can you hate on the legendary Burns-Thornton beards?

Who doesn't love a big, out-of-control playoff beard? Guy Lafleur, that's who.

The 2016 NHL playoffs have delighted most hockey fans by showcasing two of the most impressive beards in NHL history—Brent "Chewbacca" Burns' and "Jumbo" Joe Thornton's, but Lafleur is too salty to enjoy the fun.

While many of us enjoy watching, comparing, and even analyzing the evolution of Burns and Thornton's beards, the former Montreal Canadiens legend, known for smoking cigarettes between games, is weirdly disgusted with what he's seeing, according to the Montreal Gazette.

I think it's a disgrace for hockey. I hate it. It's not a good image for the NHL. I don't mind a guy wearing a beard, but to his belly… enough is enough. The team's managers should put their foot down.

While most hockey fans would disagree with Lafleur's position on the two best playoff beards in recent history—one of which is even garnering consideration for the Conn Smythe award—some salty Sharks fans might concur with his theory about why the team is one loss away from being eliminated from the Stanley Cup Final.

"They can't see the puck," Lafleur joked. "That's why they're struggling."

Despite Lafleur's theory, both Thornton and Burns have been impressive during the course of the playoffs, combining for 42 points to help the Sharks reach the Cup final for the first time in franchise history. Maybe Lafleur is just upset about his beloved Canadiens finishing a disappointing five spots out of playoff contention.
