Wests Tigers second rower Kyle Lovett was found hiding cocaine in his undies last December, a Sydney Court heard yesterday.

Sitting in the front seat of a Merc in downtown Sydney, Lovett was questioned by police in the early hours of December 23 last year.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the 23-year-old - who has played 43 games for the Tigers over the last two seasons - had been pulled over by the cops in an area known to be frequented by people trying to score drugs.

Upon searching Lovett and his car, police found white powder on the driver's seat and footwell, and passenger's side footwall - as well as a small baggie - around 0.39 grams - in his undies.

When asked if he was hiding any drugs in his undies, the SMH reported that Lovett replied: "I'll be honest with you - I do."

A MDMA pill and a wad of cash - which the Tigers forward called casino winnings - was also found.

Lovett plead guilty to drug charges yesterday, but didn't receive a conviction. The judge instead gave him a six-month good behaviour bond. In addition, the Tigers player will have to deal with the NRL integrity unit.

"Usually for young people I'm prepared to give leniency," magistrate Janet Wahlquist said.

"Young people often experiment and do use a small amount of drugs. You should know that it's a danger, as it's quite commonly said, there's no quality control.

"I'm prepared to give you the benefit of leniency, it was a small quantity … you have an otherwise bright future."

Lovett is contracted to Wests until the end of 2017, though it is understood the club is looking to offload him to manage their salary cap better.
