Decibel Festival Is Handing Out "Consent Is Sexy" Business Cards This Year
Because it is.
Seattle, Washington's Decibel Festival is right around the corner. This year's fest will kick off on September 23, and feature performances from the likes of Autechre, Julio Bashmore, Laurel Halo, and Jlin. Looking to ensure that the festival experience is as awesome as possible for its patrons, Decibel is partnering with Portland's C.A.R.E.Squad—which stands for "Compassionate and Respectful Engagement Squad"—to encourage conversation about the horrible reality of sexual assault at music festivals.
The tactic they've chosen is to hand out business cards—viewable above—that begin by stating "Consent Is Sexy," and offer a friendly reminder of what consent is, and isn't. Today, Decibel Festival announced the collaboration with a Facebook post that included the following statement:
"Decibel Festival is a safe space: misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, or violence of any kind will not be tolerated. Please respect the space and the people with whom you are sharing it. If you experience any of the above violations or feel unsafe in any way, please notify a staff or security member and the issue will be dealt with promptly. At dB2015 we have a ZERO tolerance policy."
