Psychologists having been used the ink blot test, also known as the Rorschach test, to study patients' personalities, emotional functioning, and thought disorders since the 1940s. Patients are shown abstract images in the of ink blots and told to share what they see, which doctors then pick apart for indicators of specific traits or characteristics. If you follow the unpredictable, tabloid-worthy antics of some of the world's most famous DJs, you might not think it's such a bad idea that they finally took one.
Just kidding. But all jokes aside, at Miami Music Week, iHeartRadio pulled aside a menagerie of some of dance music's biggest names—R3hab, Yellow Claw, 3LAU, Steve Aoki, Audien, Sultan + Shepard, Gareth Emery, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, NERVO, and Martin Garrix—for a Rorschach test, and the results are pretty entertaining.
Where Yellow Claw saw a fox, Afrojack saw an "ugly ass butterfly"; where Audien saw boots, NERVO saw a Dorito; where Shepard saw "a duck with a reflection," a lot of these dudes just saw bowties. Steve Aoki saw Deadmau5. What could it all mean? We really have no idea.
