What've you got planned this weekend? Going to the pub later? Maybe a club? Then a nice little brunch spot tomorrow for a mocha and a flick through the fun bit of the paper? Oh, that's nice, your old mate from uni's in town and you're taking him to a pub because you can't think of anything to do with him that doesn't involved getting really pissed and starting every conversation with the phrase, "Hey, remember when…" Sounds nice, hope you have fun.Do you know what we're going to do? We're going to hole ourselves in our little flat with a big bag of salty popcorn and zone out to this gorgeous Oneohtrix Point Never edit of Four Tet's "Evening Side" which got its first play last night on Rinse FM. As 0PN, most of us associate Daniel Lopatin with music that veers towards the experimental end of the electronic spectrum, so it's a slight surprise to hear him playing it relatively straight. It sort of sounds like a jazzier version of the kind of downbeat deep house that labels like Dial and Smallville specialize in and, honestly, we can't stop listening to it.Slap it on below and you're sorted all the way up to Match of the Day 2 on Sunday night.
