Chase Headley Hits Walk-Off Home Run Against Red Sox, Knows It Immediately

Walk-off home runs will always be fun.

Is there a better feeling in sports than hitting a walk-off home run in baseball? If you think "no," watch Chase Headley hit one off Koji Uehara last night at Yankee Stadium. Mark Teixeira hit a solo shot of his own in the ninth to tie the game and two batters later, Headley got the moment we've all daydreamed about while taking practice swings in the backyard. He knew it as soon as it left his bat and he was fired up.

His joy is in stark contrast to Uehara's equally instantaneous hangdog disappointment. And here's the thing: these teams kind of stink, the Red Sox especially. The Yankees, four games behind the Mariners, are trying to worm their way into the second wild card spot while Boston has the same record as the Houston Astros. This isn't Aaron fucking Boone, by any means, is what we're saying here. It's still a game, though, and it'll always be fun for the winner and miserable for the loser.

Check out the full video here so you can see Joe Girardi casually toss Headley a tiny towel to dry off an entire bucket's worth of Gatorade.
