Indians Troll Jose Bautista for "Shaking in his Boots" Comment

Bautista said Indians Pitcher Ryan Merritt was going to be "shaking in his boots" for Game 5. Oops.

Joey Bautista is one of the most interesting players baseball has to offer. The sport needs more like him. He's willing to just talk trash at any time and his bat flips are amazing. But damn if talking trash doesn't have a downside.

Before Game 3, he said "circumstances"—whatever they were and he didn't want to say—were cramping Toronto's offense in the ALCS. OK.

Before Game 5, when the newly confident Blue Jays were now down 3-1 and about to face a no-name, out-of-nowhere 24-year-old rookie Ryan Merritt, Bautista said "I'm pretty sure he's going to be shaking in his boots more than we are."

Oh Joey, if you're gonna talk smack, the Indians will make you eat it when they win.

The taunting started early. (Note: I was there. One of the first things some Indians player yelled when they got into the clubhouse and prepared to party: "Shaking in their boots!")

A pair of Cowboy boots was just held up in clubhouse. "Sign em and send em to Joey Bats!!!" an Indians player I cannot identify yelled.

But once everyone cleared out and the Indians started tweeting, it got really fun.

Even Pedro got in on it:

A boy from Texas doesn't shake in his boots. Congratulations to the #ClevelandIndians, to #Merritt, and to the entire state of #Ohio.

Jose Bautista went 0-for-2 against Merritt.
