Father John Misty Goes “Pure Country” on Reworked Song

The country version of "Pure Comedy" is intentionally tinny.

Bearded ouroboros, avid vaper, and Ryan Adams annoyer Father John Misty has released a new song. Sort of. "Pure Country" is a country reworking of his own "Pure Comedy" from last year's album of the same name, with slide guitars replacing the choir and a faint southern accent standing in for Misty's precise delivery on the original. It sounds tinny, as thought it was recorded inside an empty submarine, which is slightly annoying. But, of course, it's supposed to be because that sort of delivery makes us question the very nature of sincerity and absurdity and that, in itself, is absurd, in the human sense.
