PREMIERE: Watch Charles Bradley's "Change for the World" Video and Do Something Kind Today

When Charles Bradley speaks, you listen.

Charles Bradley has seen a lot of shit in his life. So when he says "put away the gun and take this love," when he declares "hate is poison in the blood," when he warns about a backslide toward racial division and hatred masquerading as religion, you pay attention. That's the message of his song "Change for the World," which the soul singer shared earlier this month and which we're premiering the video for below.

"This video truly represents the song," Bradley explained over email. "It shows a lot of the things going on in this world right now. People need to open their eyes, ears and hearts and understand that we need to make a change." Once again, when Bradley speaks, you listen.

But you can also watch: Director Eric Feigenbaum shared some thoughts about the video, explaining, "The idea for me was to make something that reflected the nameless frustration of the lyrics, to rep our global context in the same way that the song does: like an endless stream of terrors and warnings, tied together only by our moment-to-moment perception. Charles is looking out at the modern world, and seeing too much scary shit to categorize all of it. We wanted the video to represent that, to not focus on one thing, to give every piece of the puzzle equal weight, so it winds up almost too frenetic, to the point of being kind of impossible to react to. For Charles, the prescription is simple: it’s all about love, accepting it, giving it, leaving space for it, and the fact that he is able to distill it that far down in the face of the scattered and terrifying construction of everything he’s seeing before him is kind of insane, and kind of inspirational."

So go out and love someone today. Do a good deed. Create some kindness in the world and share some affection. Let Charles Bradley inspire you. Bradley's new album Changes is out April 1 on Daptone. Pre-order it here. He's also heading on a worldwide tour next month. Find those dates and check out the video for "Change for the World" below:
