In the beginning of the video for "Too Late" by Guantanamo Baywatch, two Portlandian hipsters are having a predictably insufferable discussion about a space-themed restaurant called "Extra Thai-Restrial" and their miniature pickle catering service "No Big Dill." Then, in an all-too-perfect reaction, one of them chokes and dies mid-conversation, and while a life is lost, the irony is not. The scuzzy Portland trio with a knack for sarcasm and bass-driven doo-wop hits the road tomorrow to tour their most recent album, Darling... It's Too Late that dropped earlier this month from Suicide Squeeze. This latest video, directed by Brett Roberts and featuring back-up vocals by Curtis Harding, plays on the band's vintage persona with a costume straight out of "Beauty School Drop Out" and a very 50s-esque portrayal of the afterlife as an all-or-nothing type of deal. But you know what they say: that devil music will send you straight to Hell!
