Soul revivalist Leon Bridges is making a big splash this year with a timeless sound. On cuts like "Coming Home" and "Better Man" the Fort Worth, Texas singer-guitarist reached back to the early 60s for inspiration, cooking up reverent rhythm and blues nuggets pitched squarely between Sam Cooke and James Carr. Today he releases "Smooth Sailin," the fifth single from his upcoming debut album Coming Home, an airy summer gem that swings between an upbeat sock hop rhythm and a butter-soft chorus. Coming Home arrives June 23rd on Columbia Records.
