The Flaming Lips Are Releasing Anatomically Correct Chocolate Hearts Containing USBs for Valentines Day

Valentines Day has to be one of the worst days of the year. The few people who believe in the premise of Notebook-esque romantic scenarios hate on the earth for being alone, whilst simultaneously forgetting that they’re also single (for good reason) for the 364 other days of the year. Those that are lucky enough to have something more than a fuck-buddy use the day to suggest that they’ve felt the brush of St Valentine and use material gifts to showcase their feelings - because, apparently, love only means doing something nice once a year and it’s okay to be a complete asshole for the rest.

This year, Wayne Coyne is catering for both ends of the spectrum. They’re releasing anatomically correct chocolate hearts which will hold inside a USB mix called Songs Of Love. The box is also signed, meaning A) lonely, super fans, can get hold of something great to keep them warm on V-day and B) superglued together couples can pretend that true love exists only when presented alongside a card and a piece of melted cocoa with a USB stick inside.

Recordings of Pavement's First Ever Show Have Surfaced

Despite Stephen Malkmus, Pavement are a pretty cool band. I used to sit at home watching their Jay Leno performance on a YouTube looping continuum and upon announcing this to grown-up Steve when I met him in France, he stole some of my cigarettes. He’s a bit of a jerk, but if Smashing Pumpkins are anything to go by, music made by jerks is generally pretty good. Anyway, footage of Pavement's first ever show surfaced on the internet the other day and by now, half of the balding, slacker dads who play guitar and smoke pot on the weekends have probably masturbated to it.

Conor Oberst’s Political Punk Band, Desaparecidos, Released Some New Music

For years now, Conor Oberst has provided the soundtrack to flick fringed teenage desperation. Crappy phone advert commercial aside, First Day of My Life is the greatest love song ever written. Hearts break in that song. Alongside giving pre-graduation kids backing music to all night angst welded sessions, Conor can also get pretty political, with his Desaparecidos outfit providing an outlet for eroding establishment messages. He’s just released two more tracks - "The Left Is Left" and "Anonymous" - the first tackling the Occupy movement and the second, well, have a guess. Rolling Stone are streaming the track.

Swim Deep Released A New Single

What happened to pop music? Sure, "Call Me Maybe" was the best track of last year and was played in the background of many Schloer drinking establishments. One Direction are the hottest band in the world and Bieber smoked a little weed whilst still managing to drizzle "Boyfriend" with swagoo. Yet, it’s all a little "eh". What happened to PROPER pop music? Swim Deep deserve to be top of the charts with this 2K13 equivalent to The Beach OST spectacular of All Saints' "Pure Shores". All I want to do is jump into a pool right now.

Kilo Kish released an EP

Kilo Kish has only been around for about a year now, yet she’s already released three EPs. What are you saying Azealia? Didn’t "212" drop, like, mid 2011? Anyway. Kish’s new EP K+ got uploaded onto the internet and it’s pure fire. It’s got a pot pourri of guest features, boasting the likes of both Earl Sweatshirt and The Internet alongside SBTRKT, Star Slinger and more.
